Want the new Samsung Galaxy S22? We’ve got very bad news for you
Samsung fans will have a shiny new smartphone to add to their wishlist next month, with the South Korean company finally confirming that it will hold one of its famous Unpacked launch events on February 9. Although there’s no official confirmation of what will be unveiled, it seems almost certain that a new Galaxy S22 range will be shown to the world.
First off, Samsung has already teased a logo for the new handset, with the number “22” emblazoned on the invite for Unpacked next month. And next up, Samsung says it will “set an epic new standard for smartphones with the most noteworthy S series ever created.”
It’s widely-tipped that three devices will be uncovered next week including a standard Galaxy S22, a larger Galaxy S22 Plus model, and an ultimate version called the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The latter could see the return of the S Pen stylus – an accessory that has been missing since Samsung scrapped its Note range back in 2020. Rumours have been rife that this digital pen is making a comeback and the fact that Samsung mentioned the word “noteworthy” in its invites along with a handwritten message scribbled across it is surely a giant hint that the S Pen is back.
All of the S22 range is sure to get faster processors, improved cameras and batteries that last a little longer.
Sound exciting? Well, don’t get too excited as we might have some bad news for you.
Although we’ll get our first glimpse of what is in store for the next generation of Galaxy phones next week, rumours are suggesting that some fans of these devices may face a very long wait to actually own one.
It seems the S22 Ultra may be in high demand, but short supply meaning some could face months of waiting before getting their hands on one.
That’s all according to Dohyun Kim, a top tech tipster in South Korea who is speculating that the Ultra model could have a whopping three month wait time – that means you might not be able to use one until May! In a post on Twitter Kim said: “Samsung is expecting that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will be sold A LOT compared to the production yield. They are also expecting that the delivery might take about 3 months if bad, which is worse than Galaxy Z Fold3.”
We’ll have to wait and see exactly what Samsung unveils on February 9 and what the pre-order schedule looks like. If you want to make sure you are first in the queue then some UK networks, including EE, are already offering pages on their websites where you can register your interest. This should mean you’ll get notified as soon as the S22 is available.
If you want to know everything about the S22 range when it’s announced then Express.co.uk will be bringing you all the news live from Unpacked so watch this space if your Galaxy phone is due an upgrade.
