VW Beetle discovered in ‘time-warp’ condition has driven just TWO miles from new

A 44 year-old Volkswagen Beetle in “time warp” condition has been found in a garage with just TWO miles on the clock.

The rare 1979 Beetle Karmann Cabriolet was recently discovered following the passing of its one and only owner – who had stored it at their home covered it in sheets.

This Volkswagen Beetle is finished in ‘Brazil Brown’ paint and is believed to be one of the last examples produced in right-hand drive; This is Money reports.

Inside, the seats look like new as they haven’t been used, the leather is in pristine condition, and the door cards show no sign of wear and tear.

Surprisingly, the ignition key has a tag on it, and the paper carpet protectors are still there.

And with just two miles on the clock after 44 years, it may also be the least utilised example in the entire world.

The convertible model is being offered to the highest bidder without reserve, although experts have set a guide price of £10,000 to £12,000.

Simon Langsdale, who sourced the car for CCA, told This is Money: “The car has been in storage all its life and has an incredible two miles on the odometer, which we are told is correct. 

“‘It has quite evidently been cossetted as it was covered in blankets in a sealed environment and has recently been uncovered due to a bereavement. 

“‘It is in effect a ‘new’ 1979 Karman Beetle, surely an unrepeatable opportunity. “

The car comes with its original handbook and service booklet – clearly with no stamps.

This comes after a one-off Swedish hypercar that was built to race at Le Mans was sold for an eye-watering amount at auction.

Plus, a stunning Ford Capri in “outstanding” condition was up for auction and set to go under the hammer for an eye-watering price.
