Viewers torn as BBC announces Celebrity Race Across The World with new trailer
The first teaser trailer for Celebrity Race Across The World has dropped, and fans are, understandably, losing their minds.
This year will see the first-ever star-studded edition of the popular BBC reality competition, as the edge-of-your-seat regular series came to an end on Wednesday night.
After the winners were crowned following a shock drop-out, fans were treated to a sneak peek at the upcoming celebrity series – and it looks like one not to be missed.
The Beebs kept the identities of their celebs tightly under wraps, with even the most eagle-eyed viewers unable to catch a glimpse of their faces in the short teaser.
There were, however, voice-overs, with one man declaring ‘anything could happen,’ and a woman breathlessly laughing about the ‘most wild day of my life.’
The teaser gave a glimpse of what to expect, with gorgeous shots of seaside villages, isolated islands and major cities – and even a reindeer pulling a sleigh.
Already excitement is building for the new series, with fans taking to social media to share their opinion – however not everyone is happy with the idea.
‘Celebrity race across the world? No thanks. I’d rather see normal folk get the chance of having the trip of a lifetime,’ one viewer complained.
Another said it was ‘up there with the most unnecessary things ever,’ while one declared we ‘don’t need’ a celebrity version.
‘Oh no hope not a celebrity version. The good thing about race across the world is the competitors aren’t influencers or after exposure,’ another noted.
Plenty more were buzzing for the new series due to air in the autumn, with one fan saying they were ‘hugely excited’ and another describing it as ‘marvellous.’
‘Celebrity Race Across The World, I will be there. It’s not as if it’s replacing the regular series,’ another argued.
And as one particularly excited viewer put it: ‘OMFG CELEBRITY RACE ACROSS THE WORLD TRAILER !!’
There are plenty of celebrity editions of popular TV shows – from Celebrity Gogglebox to Celebrity Bake-Off and, most recently, Celebrity Hunted.
The Hunted series proved massively popular with fans, with comedy duo Ed Gamble and James Acaster among the most popular fugitives.
Off Menu stars Ed and James were seen taking the competition in their stride as they stopped off for fancy meals, enjoyed time in a comedy club – and went undercover in ridiculously OTT costumes.
Celebrity Race Across The World airs this autumn on BBC One and BBC iPlayer; Metro.co.uk has reached out to BBC for comment.
