Video shows incredible transformation of Porsche 911 diecast
JUST like regular vehicles, diecast toy cars will develop visual defects, rust, and cracks over time, leaving them in need of repair to look their best.
And a TikTok video from Restoration Car has shown how a toy automobile can return to its glory days, even from a state that may seem utterly hopeless.
Restoration Car, which goes by @restoration_kamasutra on the social media platform, begins its video showing a battered and beaten diecast Porsche 911 (993) Carrera.
Porsche manufactured 68,881 Type 993 examples from 1993 to 1998.
There are numerous defects within this worn diecast sports car, but a few of the most prominent forms of damage include:
- No wheels
- Severely chipped paint
- Broken headlights
- Rusted screws
- Dirt and grime accumulation
This TikTok creator begins his toy Porsche’s restoration by completely disassembling the model car.
After taking apart the Porsche and stripping its paint, Restoration Cars recolors the diecast red with a paint gun.
The model is then shown with most of its exterior taped so certain accent pieces can be painted black before the panel line color is applied with a thin brush.
One of this TikTok creator’s most innovative restorations was when he placed a coat of glue on the car’s floor before sprinkling flocking material to create the appearance of carpeting.
Afterward, this video’s craftsman updates the colors of mechanical parts, packs small luggage in the trunk, and attaches cables to the engine.
Viewers were quick to compliment Restoration Cars’ restoration skills.
One TikTok user wrote: “This is amazing. Such patience and attention to detail. My dad is a master model railroader, so I appreciate your skill.”
Another viewer commented: “It is relaxing to watch. Such detail.”
