A video of an e-rickshaw overturning on a waterlogged road is viral on social media. It is being claimed that this video is from Uttar Pradesh. West Uttar Pradesh Congress Seva Dal tweeted the clip with the same claim. It has been viewed over 15,700 times as of this writing. (Archive link)

Facebook pages ‘U.P East Youth Congress‘ and ‘छौरै जाटव के’ (Chhaurai Jatav Ke) also posted this video and accompanying claim.

Fact-check

Alt News performed a keyword search which led us to a tweet posted by ‘UP Police Fact-Check’. It mentioned that this video was actually from Rajasthan’s Dausa district.

Upon further research, we found a Navbharat Times report dated October 2, 2021. It states that the incident occurred in Dausa, Rajasthan. The e-rickshaw overturned due to a pothole on the road near Agra Gate.

Dainik Bhaskar had also covered the video.


Uttar Pradesh Police debunked the viral claim on Facebook too.

To sum it up, a video of an e-rickshaw overturning due to a pothole in Dausa, Rajasthan was falsely shared as Uttar Pradesh.
