After communal clashes in Rajasthan’s Karauli town, an 11 seconds long video clip is viral on social media with a Hindi caption that suggests that a Muslim man threatened members of the Hindu community.
In the video, a man who visibly appears to be Muslim records himself saying, “[undecipherable audio]…see, this car (pointing at a police PCR van), here is a second car…a third car, now look at the fourth car… Okay? This is from our area…in front of Star Hotel…if we do something these people create an uproar…this much fear is enough for you people…understood? Think you have understood.”

It is also viral on Facebook with the claim that the incident is from Karauli.
Video from Telangana
The man recording the video says he is in front of “Star Hotel” in his area. He also pans his camera to show the signboard of the hotel. Putting together stills from the video we noticed that the board behind him reads, “Star Hotel”, “SPL, and “Green Tea”.
Taking this as a clue we performed a keyword search on Google and came across two hotels of the same name on Just Dial with the same signboards, located in Nizamabad, Telangana. However, comparing the photos with stills from the video, we noticed that one of the hotels has a pan shop right outside the store and it matches the visuals seen in the viral video. This helped us confirm that the name of the hotel is ‘Sky Star Hotel’.
We then performed another Google search and found out that the hotel has been closed permanently. This suggests that the video may not be recent as it was shot when the store was still open.
Using Google Earth Pro, we geolocated the road where the video was shot. This confirms that the location is indeed Nizamabad, Telangana. A better view of this road is available on Google street view.
We also performed a keyword search on Facebook and came across the same video posted in 2021 and 2020.
Alt News could not independently verify the identity of the man seen in the video or the context in which it was shot. However, it is safe to conclude that the video is not from Rajasthan’s Karauli which recently witnessed communal clashes.
