Victoria Beckham posted an emotional tribute to husband David in light of her 31 million Instagram followers on Saturday after his Inter Miami team stormed to victory against Cruz Azul in Lionel Messi’s debut match for the team.
The 49-year-old style icon, who gave a nod to her Posh Spice days by wearing an all-black outfit, said she is “so proud” of her 48-year-old husband as she posted a touching image of the pair of them hugging on the pitch alongside other pictures of the big night.
She captioned the series of images: “I just can’t express how proud of @davidbeckham I am. Wow! What a night in Miami!”
She also tagged their two youngest children Cruz, 18, and Harper, 12 who joined them at the game and who also featured in the pictures she posted.
Despite her delight at the win, Victoria kept her trademark pout in the shots although the rest of the family and her celebrity friends are beaming widely.
The star-studded event saw the likes of Kim Kardashian, a very pregnant Serena Williams, LeBron James and J-Lo’s ex-husband Marc Anthony turn out to witness the historic night and they happily posed for pictures with the Beckhams.
The Argentine’s debut had been eagerly anticipated and he didn’t disappoint curling a stunning free-kick into the top left corner in the 94th minute to seal a 2-1 win for the team and avoid the matchup going to penalties.
Although he is no stranger to a last-minute free kick himself David still found himself getting emotional over the winning goal.
The England legend had tears in his eyes as he realised that his team had been victorious.
“It’s terrible… Watching these games it’s so – as an ex-player you get frustrated,” he told Apple’s MLS Season Pass after the game.
“As a player, you can do something about it if you’re losing, when you’re an owner you can’t,” he said.
“But tonight is about the people. It’s about this,” the footballing legend continued.
“This is what we always saw as our vision, me and Jorge and Jose, and the club.”
