Vicky McClure will be back on our screens soon with new ITV thriller Trigger Point.

And the actress, 38, has revealed she didn’t wear a bra or make-up while filming the bomb disposal thriller.

The Line Of Duty star said she felt a ‘slight sense of responsibility’ with her role as Lana Washington in the explosive drama.

She told Radio Times: ‘I wore a crop top instead of an actual bra. I didn’t want the character to make a big deal about the way she looks. She is real and human.’

When asked if there was any other reason for this, she added: ‘Well, I do feel a slight sense of responsibility. There is so much pressure on people, especially via social media. I would like to put some kind of message out there, showing people that you don’t really need make-up.’

Vicky said she thinks ‘it’s important to strip things back and be comfortable.’

‘I mean, my body isn’t fully toned; people will see the real Vicky, as well as Lana. I’m not hiding anything.’

Vicky will star alongside Adrian Lester in the six-part series produced by Jed Mercurio.

Lana and Adrian’s character Joel Nutkins risk their lives on a daily basis as bomb disposal operatives, known as Expos.

The two are good friends and served in the military together in Afghanistan.

Their job is dangerous and will surely keep viewers on the edge of their seats as they work with the Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad as they deal with a terrorist campaign threatening London at the height of summer.

The team is trying to keep the city safe while figuring out who is behind the bombings, but it means their own lives are always on the line.

Vicky has also opened up about the importance of authenticity and realism in her roles, saying she enjoys creating characters she can ‘relate to.’

‘My favourite way of acting is reacting. So playing around with dialogue is important, making sure it’s authentic; if I’m working with writers who are collaborative they will help me feel it is. Actors are creatives, and artists, with their own methods,’ she shared.

The high-octane drama is written by exciting newcomer Daniel Brierley, and with the makers of Line of Duty behind the project, it’s sure to be gripping.

However, Vicky has said there’s no comparison between Lana and Kate Flemming.

She said: ‘I don’t feel there’s any part of Kate coming with me in that way.

‘I’ve got my head in a little ponytail for the majority of the show and not a scrap of make-up on, so I don’t look like Kate, I don’t feel like Kate.

‘I think the audience will get involved in a new world and very quickly be transported there.’

It was only recently Vicky said the Line of Duty cast are ‘all game’ for a series 7, despite writers having no plans to bring the drama back.

Trigger Point starts 23 January at 9pm on ITV.
