Verstappen outdoes Hamilton in Mexico as Ricciardo sends out reminder
Yuki Tsunoda – AlphaTauri: 6
Disaster struck for Japanese prospect Tsunoda when that collision with Ricciardo ended his race early. His reaction left little doubt as to who he felt was to blame.
Sebastian Vettel – Aston Martin: 6.5
No fairytale for Vettel in his final race in Mexico. Started in P17 after a tough Saturday – did manage to take P14 after benefiting from the two retirements.
Lance Stroll – Aston Martin: 6.5
An almost identical race to his partner. Started in P18 and rose up three places, but never threatened to charge towards the points.
Alex Albon – Williams: 8.5
Was left to rue his qualifying disaster. Went from P19 to P12 in what was a real gutsy drive.
Nicholas Latifi – Williams: 3.5
Another awful weekend for Latifi as his F1 career continues to peter out. Were it not for the retirements, would have finished where he started in P20.
Valtteri Bottas – Alfa Romeo: 8
After qualifying in P6, was always going to be a tough ask to stay there. But the Finn held on to take 10th, ending a run of 10 Grand Prix’s without a point.
Zhou Guanyu – Alfa Romeo: 7
Another race where Zhou showed flashes of his potential, holding off Vettel to take P13. Was left lamenting an ill-timed pit stop though.
Kevin Magnussen – Haas: 4
The day started badly for Magnussen, who soon learnt he would be visiting the stewards after the race for driving “unnecessarily slowly” on his recon lap before the start. Not that penalising him was worth it as he finished P17.
Mick Schumacher – Haas: 7
It wasn’t a great day for Haas, with Schumacher coming in just a place ahead of Magnussen. Not the display he would have wanted as he fights for his future.
