Vaults holding large amounts of silver sit under a Tube station
There are all manner of weird and wonderful things hidden just under our feet under London’s streets. From secret stations to secret rivers, this city is hiding so many gems just waiting to be discovered, but many are unaware there are literal hidden gems under the city.
The London Silver Vaults is an underground shopping destination for all things silver, located five levels underground. Originally opened as the Chancery Lane Safe Deposit in 1885, the Silver Vaults are home to 29 silver retailers selling all manner of fine goods.
Located just around the corner from Chancery Lane Tube station, the entrance to the London Silver Vaults is unassuming. The Vaults, complete with 4-foot thick steel doors, have never been burgled.

The original building above the Vaults was destroyed during the London Blitz, yet the vaults remained safe. Visiting the London Silver Vaults is free, and you can browse all manner of beautifully crafted pieces, and there are also dealers qualified to provide valuations.
The London Silver Vaults are open Monday-Friday from 9am to 5.30pm and Saturday from 9am to 1pm. Find them at Chancery House, 53-64 Chancery Ln, London WC2A 1QS.
