Valve Boss Shows Interest in PC Game Pass Coming to Steam

Gabe Newell is “more than happy” to work with Microsoft to bring PC Game Pass to Steam, in case the Redmondians have such plans.

Xbox Game Pass has been growing significantly in the world over the past few years. The number of subscribers to the service on both PC and consoles has already proven Microsoft’s success in this new method of the gaming business.

Currently, one of the biggest issues that probably prevents PC players from subscribing to Game Pass is the flawed Xbox App on Windows 10/11 with so many weird bugs and limited features.

By delivering its first-party titles to Steam as well as Windows Store over the last few years, Microsoft has shown that they would ditch exclusivity if it hurts the number of their audience. The same is now going on with PC Game Pass, which could eventually force the gaming division of Microsoft to bring Game Pass on Steam.

PC Game Pass Coming to Steam Will Benefit Steam Deck Players the Most

In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Gabe Newell showed utmost interest in bringing Game Pass to Steam. He said:

We’d be more than happy to work with them to get that (PC Game Pass) on Steam.

With Newell confirming his interest in this business, it’s now all on Microsoft to make the move and bring its popular subscription service to a popular digital market.

Of course, Steam Deck is probably one of the key reasons why Gabe Newell is so eager to have Game Pass on Steam. Currently, Steam Deck players will need to install a Windows 10 on the device and then switch to desktop mode and deal with all Xbox App issues to play a Game Pass title on their portable PC.

Now, if Game Pass comes to Steam and becomes a part of the platform’s launcher, it would be a massive opportunity for Steam Deck players to enjoy a wide variety of games without struggling with anything.
