Valorant India Invitational: Singapore-Based Paper Rex Defeat Team Heretics to Win $50,000 at the Off-Season VCT Event

India’s first-ever Valorant Invitational event has concluded with Singapore-based organization Paper Rex winning it all.

In the hotly contested grand finale, which took place yesterday, Paper Rex defeated Spain’s Team Heretics with a 3-1 margin in the best of 5 series. With this victory, the former take home the $50,000 prize money, with the latter earning a sweet purse of $20,000 as well.

Paper Rex came into the off-season Valorant tournament as the favorites, with the organization topping their group, which also featured Bleed Esports and Global Esports’ GodSquad.

In the first match at Bind, the Singapore team won 13-11 before Team Heretics tied it all up with a 13-6 victory at Fracture. However, the Spanish team couldn’t handle Paper Rex’s onslaught, as the latter won Breeze and Ascent, 13-10 and 13-8, respectively.

Other than the two finalists, semi-finalists Bleed Esports and Team Secret took home $10,000 each. Along with that, the remaining teams eliminated in the group stage won $2500 each in the $100,000 tournament.

The Valorant India Invitational saw some of the best teams battle it out in the Southeast Asia’s first-ever international LAN tournament. The event hosted by Galaxy Racer India feature exciting action along with some entertaining music because of the collaboration with Sunburn Arena.

However, the event was also mired with controversies, with players and organizations facing several delays between the matches played on the main stage.

Furthermore, players also reported power cuts that took place during the event, which caused more delays to an already late event.
