USA vs. Japan softball live score, updates, highlights from 2021 Olympic gold-medal game

Gold to go for the Team USA softball.

The United States has pitched their way into the 2021 Olympics gold-medal with dazzling performances throughout the softball tournament, with Monica Abbott, Cat Osterman and Ally Carda combining for seven innings of four hit, one-run ball on Sunday night’s 2-1 win.

It took the heroics of Kelsey Stewart to push the U.S. over the top; Stewart mashed a walk-off shot over the right-field fence to give the States the W. It’s not the first time Stewart delivered against Japan, either: In 2018, Stewart nailed a walk-off single to give the United States the world-championship victory over Japan.

Team USA will meet Japan again on Tuesday morning, with the undefeated U.S. facing off against the host country for the whole megillah in the gold-medal game. Sporting News will be carrying live updates, highlights and more below.
