This agency is responsible for defending against cyber threats to build a more secure and resilient infrastructure.

“Apple has released security updates to address vulnerabilities in multiple products,” their statement read.

“These updates address vulnerabilities attackers could exploit to take control of affected systems,” CISA added.

“CISA encourages users and administrators to review the Apple security updates and apply necessary releases.”

What are the security updates?

On July 20, Apple released an extensive list of security updates for its products ranging from iPhones to Apple Watches.

For macOS Big Sur and macOS Catalina users, Safari 15.6 just dropped.

A new operating system, iOS 15.6 also just became available for iPhones and iPads.

This update works for iPhone 6s and later, iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 2 and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad mini 4 and later, and iPod touch (7th generation).

Meanwhile, for Apple Watches Series 3 and later, WatchOS 8.7 is now ready for download.

Why is updating important?

Updating your operating system makes sure your device has access to the newest security measures available.

“Keeping your software up to date is one of the most important things you can do to maintain your Apple product’s security,” the tech giant said.

In fact, security updates patch various vulnerabilities, eliminating the need for you to spend money on antivirus software, experts say.

Vice versa, if you don’t update, your iPhone will be more susceptible to malware and bugs.
