Uratex Monoblock’s ‘Bawal Ang Marupok’ campaign invites Filipinos to be more discerning in selecting products for their homes

Many may not realize it, but the presence of plastic chairs, tables, and drawers in Filipino homes has been a game-changer when it comes to furnishing and transforming a space into a practical, welcoming environment.

After all, these must-have essentials are light and easy to move around, which means anyone can practically reconfigure a space to fit any occasion in a snap, regardless of size, layout, or design taste.

For starters, monobloc chairs have been a staple in households for years due to their versatility and value-for-money proposition. They can be used virtually anywhere—in offices while working in front of a computer, on dining tables for homes or businesses, or to provide seating for a huge crowd in what would have been just open space.

But not all monobloc chairs are created equal.

Some do not last long enough. Others have a low load capacity. Not all have color options that fit any occasion.

This is where Uratex Monoblock sets itself apart from sub-par options. For over 30 years, the brand has provided high-quality, stylish, and durable plastic furniture made from strong, solid plastic.

In line with the brand’s 30th anniversary celebration this year, Uratex Monoblock launched the “Bawal ang Marupok” campaign to further educate and equip the market on the qualities to look for when investing in plastic chairs so they can avoid marupok or brittle ones that may potentially do more harm than good.

“With the ‘Bawal ang Marupok’ campaign, we aim to further communicate Uratex Monoblock’s standard for excellent craftsmanship as well as educate consumers to be more discerning of the quality and durability of plastic chairs as they value the safety of their family,” said Uratex Monoblock business unit director Dindo Medina during the campaign launch earlier this year.

One of the ways that the brand emphasizes quality is to check the warning label to see if the chair has Philippine Standard (PS) mark certification, proof that the product passed the standards set by the Department of Trade and Industry, through the Bureau of Philippine Standards (DTI-BPS), to ensure the quality and safety of monobloc chairs and stools.

Aside from adhering to and passing the mandatory tests and requirements set by the DTI-BPS, Uratex Monoblock is also the first brand in the Philippines to pass Level 5 of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO 7173), the highest plastic furniture standard in the country.

It’s also of utmost importance to always check the recommended seat load capacity for safety and assurance. Uratex Monoblock can withstand up to 200 kilograms of weight—or about the weight of three full-grown adults.

In other words, when it comes to quality and durability, Uratex Monoblock is second to none.

During the “Bawal and Marupok” launch, industry experts conducted a forum and shared insights on what makes a safe and reliable monoblock chair—and how Uratex Monoblocks are also ergonomic and tested to last for a very long time.

Aside from industry experts, mommy celebrities Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio and Camille Prats Yambao were also at the launch. The two shared their thoughts and actual experiences as moms who are always on alert and well-informed when it comes to buying quality household items for their respective homes.

“My family’s safety always comes first,” Peralejo-Bonifacio said. “Whenever I purchase items for our home, I always consider how the item can serve our family. Is it safe? Is it durable? Can it last for a long time?”

“Monobloc chairs have been a Filipino household staple, but I agree that not all are made the same,” Yambao said. “[This campaign] is really an invitation for every Filipino home to give importance to products that are safe and durable.”

So the next time you’re on deck to purchase a monoblock chair, don’t settle for less. Because when quality and durability matter most, you can’t go wrong with Uratex Monoblock.
