Update Google Chrome now or your personal info could be wiped forever
GOOGLE Chrome users are being warned to update now if they want to save their personal information.
Google will soon be getting rid of support for Chrome sync for anyone using less than Google Chrome 49 software.
Chrome sync stores things like your passwords, history, bookmarks, open tabs and settings preferences.
This information is stored on the company’s servers for easy access to all your information when you login to your Chrome account on a different device.
It’s the feature that lets you easily login to Gmail, YouTube, Google Search and other services so you can continue where you left off on a different device.
A Chrome Support Manager posted on a company support page: “As previously shared in the Chrome Enterprise release notes for M94, we’d like to inform anyone using Chrome Browser version M48 or lower that Chrome sync will be deprecated on these versions, and will no longer work once M96 launches on the stable channel.
“In order to continue to use Chrome sync please update your browser to Chrome version M49 or higher.”
Upgrading is easy if you have a compatible device.
Just follow the steps below.
How to update Google Chrome
On your computer, open the Google Chrome browser and click the More icon (three vertical dots) in the top right.
Click Update Google Chrome, or if that option isn’t there, it means you’re already using the latest version.
Once you’ve updated, click Relaunch.
The More icon will be coloured (1) green if an update has been available for two days, (2) orange if an update has been available for four days, or (3) red if an update has been available for seven days.
