The Cal Fire SCU Twitter account posted about the fire at around 1:19 p.m. Friday. The wildfire is burning near the intersection of Marsh Creek Road (CA-4) and Walnut Boulevard.

The fire is burning on both sides of Vasco Road. Residents are being asked to avoid the area. Vasco Road is closed between Walnut Boulevard and Marsh Creek Road. Crews from Cal Fire, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District and Contra Costa Fire have all responded.

Vasco Road will re-open upon notice from the California Highway Patrol and Contra Costa Fire Protection District. Motorists should use alternate routes.

As of 5:21 p.m., the fire had burned about 45 acres and was 80% contained. By shortly before 7 p.m., the fire was 100% contained.

The fire was burning not far from the brushfire that burned 200 acres in Brentwood on Thursday afternoon

Crews earlier Friday got 100 percent containment on that fire. No information about the cause of either fire was immediately available.

Officials have not said if the two fires are related.

This is a developing news story. More details will be added as they become available.
