UP CM Yogi Adityanath to toppers: Must include newspapers in your daily routine – Times of India

Advising the students to develop a habit of reading books and visiting libraries, Yogi said, “Students must look beyond textbooks and remain updated about the developments in their country and the world. For this, newspapers are a good medium. Reading the newspaper should be part of the daily routine.”

The CM added, “The edit pages of newspapers are full of opinions about current events and subjects. Going through different opinions and analyses will help you form your own view about a subject. This will also help you in competitive examinations.”

Yogi exhorted students to follow a timetable. “Time management is very important. Early to bed and early to rise is a perfect mantra for a healthy mind and body. Children must also understand that there is no substitute to hard work,” CM said.

Yogi had a piece of advice to parents and teachers too. “Both school and home environments play a major role in shaping a child’s personality. Hence, parents and teachers should try to build a positive atmosphere around them,” said the CM.

He asked parents to listen to PM’s Pariksha pe Charcha every year, and also read his book, Exam Warrior. “The book will give you tips on handling exam related challenges,” Yogi told parents.

CM asked schools to adopt innovative methods of teaching and directed them to hold special classes for weaker students. Yogi asked schools to make students aware of government schemes, run by both Centre and state for their welfare.

Suggesting morning assembly as a perfect place to disseminate the information on government schemes, Yogi said, “Schools should provide full details of government schemes such as its objective, eligibility, process of applying.”

The CM made special mention of the Abhyudaya scheme, aimed at preparing students for competitive examinations. “Experts from various fields train students according to their experiences. Students must take maximum advantage of such government schemes,” the CM told students.

During the interaction, a school principal Ved Vrat Vajpayee lauded the steps taken by the Yogi government towards ensuring fair examinations free from copying. “Students from comparatively smaller institutions have done well this time which was possible only when the prevalence of cheating, copying was curbed,” Vajpayee said.

The CM further asked schools to avoid imparting education based on few notes. Instead, schools should encourage students to have a deeper understanding of the subject, he said.

Yogi also asked schools with students in the merit list to prepare a presentation on the best practices of their institution and present it before other schools.
