‘Unless you’re the PM’ Lorraine Kelly’s savage swipe at Boris Johnson for lockdown parties
Lorraine Kelly, 62, rarely speaks ill of anyone but sometimes other people’s actions rile up the fan-favourite presenter and, in this case, the rest of the UK. After reports surfaced that Boris Johnson may have attended multiple parties during lockdown when the country was following strict rules not to leave their homes, the ITV host was among those outraged by the latest government scandal.
The report by senior civil servant Sue Gray, found there were a series of “failures of leadership and judgment” within No 10 and the Cabinet Office, during the period England was in lockdown in 2020 and 2021.
Police are currently investigating an alleged party held at the Prime Minister’s flat in Downing Street, as well as a gathering in the Cabinet Room to mark his birthday.
Chatting to Vanity von Glow on her podcast The Vanity Project, Lorraine couldn’t help but drop a little dig at Boris’ actions.
Speaking about the restrictions put in place by ITV, she explained everything was wiped down whenever something was touched, including chairs.

“But like I say, I was really, really lucky to still go into work everyday to report on the news and keep it light as well.”
It comes as the Met Police are looking into 12 gatherings, including a gathering in the Number 10 Downing Street flat on 13 November, 2020.
This was also the night the PM’s former aides Dominic Cummings and Lee Cain resigned from their roles.
The government have come under intense scrutiny after the ‘Partygate’ scandal, but last week Northern Ireland minister Conor Burns, told Channel 4 News that one of the gatherings allegedly held there was not a “premeditated” party.
The event in question took place on 19 June 2020 in which Mr Johnson was “ambushed by cake” by staff members, who wanted to mark his 56th birthday.
Burns told the channel: “It was not a premeditated, organised party.
“He was, in a sense, ambushed with a cake.
“They came to his office with a cake, they sang happy birthday, he was there for 10 minutes – I don’t think most people looking at that at home would characterise that as a party.”
