Ulrika Jonnson blasts James Jordan’s ‘sexism’ saying men ‘snatch’ jobs from her

Ulrika Jonnson has blasted former Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer James Jordan over his recent remarks slamming box ticking in showbusiness.

James, 45, claimed earlier this week that due to diversity quotas “we’re going to see no white, heterosexual men on TV anymore.”

However, Ulrika, 45, has taken umbrage at his remarks and took a swipe at him in her column in The Sun.

She wrote: “Poor lamb, it must be so terrifying to be a straight, white man in a world surrounded, and ruled, by . . . straight white men.

“It is one of the most bonkers, insulting and ignorant things I’ve heard in a long time.”

She said: “I, as a white woman, had to endure decades and decades of watching straight, white — often middle-aged — men snatch TV jobs from under my nose because, well, I am a woman and we all know women couldn’t be trusted to host shows on their own.”

She went on to point out that the showbusiness world that she grew up in rarely employed people of colour.

She said: “Are you saying that we’re now done with equality, diversity and inclusion?”

Dad of one James took a swipe at Strictly in his remarks as well as Dancing On Ice, which he won in 2019, when asked who he thought should present the ITV programme alongside Holly Willoughby, now that Phillip Schofield has departed the broadcaster.

He insisted it should be a man when asked if Dancing On Ice should follow in Strictly’s footsteps by having two female presenters like Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

He told the Daily Mail: “No. Stop trying to tick boxes all the time. Have a man and a woman present Dancing On Ice.

“I like to see men present as well, otherwise we’re going to see no white, heterosexual men on TV anymore.”

James, who is married to another former Strictly dancer, Ola Grabowska, went on to say that he hopes that ITV chooses The Chase host Bradley Walsh, dancer Jordan Banjo or radio DJ Vernon Kay to replace Schofield on the popular entertainment show.
