The cops nabbed the Indian-origin student, who was arrested in the UK for raping a drunk and semi-conscious woman, with the help of CCTV footage and a message exchange on Instagram.
The accused identified as 20-year-old Preet Vikal had taken the “intoxicated” woman to his flat in UK’s Cardiff and raped her in June last year. The victim and accused were on a night out with their separate groups of friends where they had come across.
“The victim had drunk to excess and by the end of the night was, plainly, hopelessly intoxicated. She stepped outside the club and encountered Preet Vikal. The two engaged in conversation and moved away from their groups,” officials said.
The clips of Preeti carrying the victim had gone viral. In the video, Preet Vikal is seen taking the woman to his flat.

“From the minute this was reported, we were absolutely 100 per cent committed to identifying the person responsible and bringing him to justice,” a statement from the police statement said. They said that there were inconsistencies in his statements. “It was this, along with the continued bravery of the victim, that ultimately led to him pleading guilty,” they said.
Going by the reports, the Indian-origin student had taken a “trophy photography” before sending the picture to his friends.
The victim has claimed that this incident left her unshaken and sense of guilt. Also, she was also unable to sleep.
The accused admitted that he raped the said woman in the early hours of June 4, 2022.
