Ugas suffers fractured eye in Spence Jr loss after being rushed to hospital
YORDENIS UGAS has revealed he suffered a fractured eye in his brutal loss to Errol Spence Jr.
The Cuban was stopped in round 10 by his American opponent, with the ringside doctor intervening as Ugas’ eye took a battering.
The brave welterweight could barely see by the end of the bout, despite almost KO’ing Spence Jr in the sixth round.
Ugas was immediately rushed to hospital after the fight in Texas for close examinations.
And he has now revealed he’s suffered a fractured right orbital, with concerned doctors still making plans on how to treat it.
Ugas said: “I have a fracture in my eye and in the next few days the doctors will say how they will treat it.
“I spent all morning in a hospital and I write these words with only one eye, the other is still closed.”
Reflecting on the fight, Ugas added: “The referee stopped the fight, but I wanted to keep going to the end.
“I definitely had a chance to win the fight in the sixth round, but he recuperated well.”
The result means Ugas’ record now stands at 27-5, with 22 KOs.

But it’s Spence Jr (28-0, 22 KOs) who’s already on the hunt for his next fight, having added the WBA belt to his WBC and IBF straps.
And after the bell, the ace called out Terence Crawford, who holds the WBO title.
Spence Jr said: “Everybody knows who I want next, I want Terence Crawford next.
“That’s the fight that I want, that’s the fight everybody else wants. Terence, I’m coming for that motherf*****g belt.”
This prompted Crawford to reply: “Congratulations great fight now the real fight happens.
“No more talk no more side of the street let’s go.
“Keep my belts warm I’ll be coming to grab em later this year.”
