Ubisoft Users Will Lose Access to All Their Games If They Close Their Ubi Account, Even the Ones Purchased on Steam

Recently, Ubisoft caused a bit of panic among fans as players’ accounts started getting closed due to inactivity, which would then lead to them losing access to their game library. However, Ubisoft confirmed that accounts that include PC game purchases were not eligible for deletion. It also confirmed that no accounts that have been inactive for less than four years will be deleted.

Many thought that this would resolve the issues that players had with their Ubisoft accounts closing, but it was far from the truth. On Twitter, a user asked Ubisoft whether they would lose access to the Ubisoft titles they own on Steam due to their account being closed. And the answer Ubisoft support provided was not comforting at all.

Ubisoft Support replied, stating that the company will not delete any active accounts. However, if players decide to close their accounts by their own will, then they will not be able to access the Ubisoft titles they bought on Steam. Naturally, players are not at all happy with the response from Ubisoft, with some even going to the lengths to say that they will be pirating Ubisoft’s games and are questioning why the company is not being sued for this decision.

At the moment, the only option available is for users to log some activity on their Ubisoft account to prevent its closure and maintain access to their library. However, it remains uncertain whether this will resolve the issue for everyone, leaving some players stuck in this conundrum. If you’re wondering why Ubisoft is closing accounts, it’s in compliance with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, which requires the company to remove personal information of inactive users after a specified period. If you’ve made PC game purchases on your Ubisoft account, there is no need to worry about your account being deleted.
