Ubisoft Reportedly Announcing Skull & Bones Release Date Next Month

There are rumours circulating that Ubisoft is planning to re-reveal their long-awaited pirate game Skull & Bones.

Skull & Bones was originally revealed all the way back during E3 2017 and was slated to release in 2018 on Xbox, PS4 and PC. However, it was delayed back in 2018 and then again in 2019. Last year Ubisoft said the game was still in development and they were planning to reveal more in the future. Finally, it looks like Skull & Bones has resurfaced.

The game is being developed by Ubisoft Singapore. The team has primarily worked on the Assassin’s Creed series, working in tandem with other Ubisoft studios to develop the company’s flagship franchise. However, Skull & Bones is one of the first titles the Singapore team is taking the lead on.

As reported by Eurogamer, they believe Ubisoft is planning to showcase sometime during the week of July 4. According to leaks, the details of what will be revealed that week include a potential release date and some gameplay footage.

Adding fuel to the rumours is that the game was recently rated in Brazil and South Korea by their respective boards.

About a year-and-a-half prior, we got a development update on Skull & Bones in a blog post. Creative director Elisabeth Pellen shared some of the development struggles the game has gone through and what their vision is for the game. The game will now have a greater focus on cooperative play and feature a persistent world.

Ubisoft has been struggling lately, with CEO Yves Guillemont taking a $325,000 pay cut recently due to the company not meeting its financial targets.

None of this information regarding Skull & Bones has been officially confirmed but it is expected that the game will be released during the 2022-2023 financial year which ends in March if the leak information is correct.
