UAAP rescinds suspension of La Salle’s Tchuido due to inconclusive video evidence
MANILA, Philippines — UAAP basketball commissioner Richard Bachmann rescinded the one-game suspension of La Salle’s Fina Niantcho Tchuido on Saturday hours before their game against also-ran University of the East at UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.
The league on Friday slapped Tchuido with a one-game suspension after the Lady Archer allegedly bit Kristine Cayabyab with 2:19 left in overtime during La Salle’s stunning victory over the erstwhile-unbeaten National University.
The UAAP overturned its decision due to inconclusive video evidence after reviewing La Salle coach Cholo Villanueva’s appeal.
In the initial report, Niantcho Tchuido was alleged to have bitten Kristine Cayabyab during a dead ball situation.
The league commissioner will still summon Tchuido.
Tchuido is cleared to suit up for La Salle, which holds an 11-2 record, as it seeks to seal a twice-to-beat incentive against winless UE (0-13) at 1 p.m.
