Two women arrested for drug driving in separate incidents
Two women were arrested in separate motoring incidents by Greater Manchester police last night (Saturday) on suspicion of driving while under the influence of cannabis.
Salford police stopped a Peugeot 207 which they said was being driven erratically on Anaconda Drive, just off the A6042 ring road. Officers said that the driver was spoken to and was given a drug wipe after being suspected of smoking cannabis. She then failed the drug wipe. The 19-year-old was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
GMP Salford posted a message on Twitter at 3:48am stating: “Officers stopped a Peugeot 207 due to driving erratically on Anaconda Drive. Driver spoken to and had smoked cannabis recently and then failed a drug wipe. A 19 year old female was arrested on suspicion of drug driving #GMPTransportUnit.
Just seven minutes earlier, GMP’s Bury North Police issued a similar tweet, stating that a VW Golf spotted on the M66 was stopped on Brook Street in Bury due to the “manner of driving”. Checks found that the driver had already been arrested earlier that day for drug driving. A 31-year-old female then failed a further drug wipe, testing positive for cannabis and she was arrested again.
