Delighted to score a centum in the first JEE Main session, Saumitra said, “My paper went well and I was confident of a good score. Getting 100 percentile is beyond my expectations.”
For Kanishk, the perfect score came in the second JEE Main session. “I scored 99.93 in the first session but when I finished the second session exam, I was quite sure of a 99.99 percentile, but 100 is definitely an icing on the cake,” said Kanishk who had scored 98% in Class 12.

Pragati, who had no idea of being a female state topper until TOI informed her about it, said: “This is another feather in my cap. I am extremely happy.” Last month, she topped the CBSE Class 12 in Prayagraj region by securing 497 marks out of 500.

Among other 22 national toppers, five each are from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, four are from Rajasthan, and one each from Assam, Bihar, Punjab, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala and Haryana.

The UP toppers, who are now gearing up for JEE Advanced slated for August 28, shared a common success mantra. According to them, NCERT books are most dependable for JEE preparations. They said that test series were equally important and there was no substitute for hard work. The trio aspire to be software engineers.

The NTA conducted JEE (Main) 2022 Session 1 from June 24-30 and Session 2 from July 25-30. Total 10.2 lakh candidates registered for the examination held at 622 centres in 440 cities. The results released on Sunday were tabulated considering the best performances of candidates in two sessions. However, it was optional to appear in both the sessions.
