Two Premier League records Man Utd will look to preserve against Wolves

Manchester United will welcome Wolves to Old Trafford on Monday teatime looking to preserve two Premier League records.

According to statistics put together by Opta, Manchester United have the highest win rate in the competition during January than any other Premier League side.

This record currently stands at 65.5% with the Red Devils having won 74 of their 113 games in the opening month of the year.

In comparison, Wolves’ lowest win rate in a single month is January where they have only won 17.2% of Premier League games played in this time period.

Meanwhile, Monday appears to be the day for United victories.

The Old Trafford side have the highest win rate of all Premier League sides when it comes to playing on the first day of the week.

United last lost a Monday fixture back in August 2018 when they were defeated 3-0 by Tottenham Hotspur.

If the stats are anything to go by, Wolves could be in for a worrying evening in Manchester.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have lost their last three fixtures against United and they are also winless in 10 away games to Old Trafford.

The West Midlands club last tasted victory in the red half of Manchester back in February 1980.

What is worse for Bruno Lage is that Wolves have not scored first in their last 13 Premier League matches against United.

The last time they managed to score first was in a 1-0 victory at Molineux back in 2004.
