Two cats desperate to find new homes – but not together as they don’t get on
Two 19-year-old spinster moggies – some of the oldest unwanted cats in the country – are looking for new homes.
But time has taken its toll on this feline relationship, as the pair now want to be separated after years of not getting on.
Ginger and Mollie – who are 92 in human years – are being looked after at the RSPCA’s Manchester and Salford Branch, after their owner became too unwell to care for them.
Grumpy Ginger likes to hiss and swipe people with her paw if she doesn’t get her own way. Whereas black and white Mollie is deaf and is tired of her housemate pinching her food.
So now the elderly ladies are looking to be rehomed separately.
Long-haired Ginger is looking for a new owner who is confident and can put the kitty in her place when need be.
Branch manager Susie Hughes said: ‘She’s a super confident cat who loves being the centre of attention and would spend all day on someone’s lap if she could.
‘She’ll need an adopter who is as equally confident as she is though, because Ginger will tell them off with a little hiss or a quick swipe of her paw if you try and get up from your chair before she wants you to.’
Whereas Mollie is looking for a laid-back home where she can sleep a fair amount. Also, due to her deafness, she can sometimes meow on the slightly louder side.
Susie added: ‘We’d urge people to look beyond these cats’ ages, as age is really just a number and rehoming an older pet can be incredibly rewarding.
‘You’re giving them the best possible life in their twilight years and we always do our utmost to ensure a happy ending for every animal that comes into our care, young or old.’
