British tourists have been issued a holiday warning for Turkey after a rise in salmonella cases.
The UK Government said over 200 cases of salmonella had been detected since the beginning of 2023.
According to UK Government guidance, the majority of cases originated from the Antalya region.
Antalya is a leading Turkish destination with many Britons travelling each year for beach holidays.
The Government said there had been 241 confirmed cases of salmonella and 56 percent of cases were men.
Most of the cases said they had eaten a wide variety of food within their hotel resort as part of an all-inclusive.
Salmonella can usually be resolved at home but it can be more serious in children, the elderly and immunocompromised.
The UK Health Security is liaising with ABTA, the Turkish health authorities and other international public health partners to investigate.
The average age of affected travellers is 29 and the tourists had stayed at a number of different hotels in Turkey.
Anyone feeling unwell with a gastrointestinal disease should avoid preparing food or drinks for others.
Travellers should ensure they are frequently washing their hands, especially after using the toilet or preparing or eating food.
