TUI makes major change to holiday bookings – and it’s good news for Brits
HOLIDAY company TUI has made a major change to its booking platforms that will benefit British holidaymakers.
Until now, Brits were unable to pick a place to stay without booking flights alongside it when using the travel company.
However, TUI has launched a new accommodation only booking platform with more than 12,000 hotels available for selection.
The new platform means customers can choose from thousands of hotels and book a stay without needing to package with a TUI flight.
TUI say this development enables them to become more flexible and
offer holidaymakers more choice.
Andrew Flintham TUI UK&I, Managing Director, said: “At TUI we know
that our customers are looking for unparalleled flexibility and choice
when booking their well-deserved summer holiday or weekend break.
“This new booking platform is another important development for TUI as we know our customers want to book different holidays and experiences throughout the year.
“We understand that booking a holiday is no longer about booking seven or 14-nights away, it’s about making your holiday fit in with your lifestyle and available time off.
“Customers can book a hotel for a summer beach getaway or even a UK based hotel for a few nights away.
“We are starting by offering 11,000 hotels across the globe but by the end of the year, we are aiming for 30,000+ hotels.
“We are hopeful that by giving customers an amazing range of hotels, along with amazing TUI customer service, that they will then stay with TUI to book, flight options, in-destination experiences and car rental.”
Accommodation only will eventually allow customers to combine their hotel selection of choice with other holiday components such as flight only, cruise only, tours and others.
This will enable them to tailor their own holiday and further adds a new degree of flexibility to the booking process.
TUI say the system will be continuously updated and tested, while new destinations and hotels will also be added going forward.
They claim that the “advanced technology” of the accommodation only platform allows customers to find the exact right spot for the perfect holiday.
Going forward, TUI will look to introduce a loyalty scheme that customers will be able to use not just on hotel bookings, but also experiences and even package holidays.
However, no date has been announced for that scheme as of yet.
The hotel platform was first launched in Sweden in December 2022 before further implementation in all other Nordic markets within the last six months. The platform has now been launched in the UK.
Meanwhile the cheapest Airbnb in England costs just £9 a night.
