Text messages from someone who claims to be a friend of The Bachelorette’s Darvid Garayeli have surfaced online with details of his split with Brooke Blurton.
When The Bachelorette’s Darvid Garayeli announced his split from influencer Brooke Blurton, taking her by surprise, earlier this year there was much speculation about how the break up unfolded.
Ms Blurton has said to fans on Instagram she would have liked to have had a say on how the news was broken to the public, but said she did call off the relationship. She also shut down cheating rumours, saying there was “no infidelity, no hate, just a pressure cooker”.
Now, a “friend” of Mr Garayeli’s has reportedly given insight into how the relationship fell apart.
In text messages sent to The Wash, the source said “I know Darv won’t say anything or post about it but people should know the truth”.
The person claimed during long-distance after filming of the reality show wrapped (Ms Blurton from Melbourne and Mr Garayeli from Brisbane) the pair had been “happy and head over heels”.
However, when they were finally able to be together after Mr Garayeli moved to Melbourne things turned sour.
“When he got to Melbourne and the honeymoon period fizzled out, Darv told us Brooke was like ‘Great you’re here, I need to focus on my work, you do you’. He felt she was pushing him away and he didn’t know why,” the person wrote.
They went on to say Ms Blurton had planned to spend Christmas in Brisbane with him, and “this is when everything pretty much ended”, when she apparently said she needed space.
Mr Garayeli went to Brisbane on his own and Ms Blurton called saying she’d changed her mind about splitting but still needed space, until ending the relationship on New Year’s Eve, according to the text messages.
Mr Garayeli apparently heard rumours Ms Blurton had thought she’d made “a huge mistake” and wanted to be with her ex, however the “friend” said there was no cheating and Ms Blurton had denied this happened.
“It’s just like once the hype from the reality show started fading and reality set in, she realised she’d made a huge mistake,” the messages read.
The Wash admitted the story was one-sided. It said it reached out to Mr Garayeli who confirmed the version of events but Ms Blurton said it was inaccurate information. Both declined to comment.
In an earlier post on Instagram, Ms Blurton explained it was her choice to end the relationship and she had been “thinking about it for a bit towards the end”.
“I had been unhappy for a bit and it wasn’t solely because of the relationship. I have a lot of respect for Darvid and what he gave up to be in the relationship but it seems that we both lost ourselves along the way,” she wrote.
“At the start of the show, I was the best version of myself and when the show ended and my sister died I became my worst and my saddest,” she added.
Ms Blurton stood by the fact it was real love and she had no regrets choosing him, but their time wasn’t now.
