Triple-vaxxed presenter hit with Covid
Struggling with intense fatigue and a lot of pain, Channel 10’s Natasha Exelby reveals she’s been hit with Covid hard and implored people to get jabbed.
Channel 10 presenter Natasha Exelby has shared her struggles with Covid, despite being triple-vaccinated.
The 38-year-old said she’d suffered extreme fatigue since testing positive to the virus on Monday.
In a video shared to Instagram, she fronted the camera barefaced with a raspy voice and urged her thousands of followers to get the jab.
“I was officially diagnosed on Monday, had my test on Saturday and have pretty much been in hibernation and a lot of pain ever since,” she said.
“Iso hasn’t been a problem for me because getting from my bedroom to the bathroom has felt like a decathlon. Yesterday was the first day I’ve stayed awake for more than five hours.”
Exelby said that given her ‘tripled-vaxxed’ status, she thought she was exaggerating her symptoms, despite feeling “really sick”. However, her suspicions were confirmed when her temperature hit 40C on Monday, she said.
The mum-of-one also said she hoped her experience woould encourage people to get vaccinated.
“People might say ‘what’s the point of getting vaxxed or triple-axed if you’re still going to get sick,” she continued.
“If I wasn’t triple-vaxxed and I got Covid, I perish the thought of where I would be and I know I’m not a spring chicken but I’m also not an old duck. I’m 38 and it has still knocked me for sick.
“If you’re wondering whether you should get vaxxed or not, and you’re still on the fence, just get the vax man, get the vax.”
The journalist also thanked healthcare workers and said she sympathised with any struggling small businesses and those experiencing chronic Covid symptoms.
“I’m also aware that in this time while most people who’ve had Covid have been experiencing quite mild symptoms because they’re vaxxed, we still do have many people in hospital, so I’m thinking of you,” she said.
“I also understand there have been more deaths over the Christmas period and I’m sending out my love and support to those people.
“So stick together Australia and hope we can kick 2020 in the teeth.”
Since sharing her video, several of Exelby’s Channel 10 colleagues have commented with their well wishes, including Gogglebox’s Yvie Jones, Brendan Fevola and Rob Mills.
“So sorry you’ve been whacked so hard Tash! Go well my friend. What a rough start to the year.. can only get better,” wrote fellow Channel 10 presenter, Narelda Jacobs.
The Project host Jan Fran also commented, writing: “Holy cannoli. Hope you Feel better babes! Wishing you a speedy recovery”.
Although Exelby is most well-known for her 2017 gaffe during her stint as an ABC news presenter where she was caught daydreaming and playing with a pen during a live bulletin, she returned to Channel 10 as a presenter in 2019. Previously she had held roles as a political reporter, senior reporter and presenter from 2008 to 2013.
In 2020, she also went on I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here where she placed seventh out of 14 celeb contestants.
