Trevor Noah reveals ‘saddest’ part of Herschel Walker’s fake badge fiasco

Trevor Noah didn’t hold back in providing commentary on the fake police badge fiasco plaguing Herschel Walker this week.

The Republican Georgia Senate candidate raised many eyebrows after he flashed an honorary sheriff’s badge during a debate with Democratic incumbent Raphael Warnock — before missing the second showdown in the closely watched race.

The former football star, 60, was widely mocked and accused of exaggerating his credentials, and “The Daily Show” host unsurprisingly joined in on the mocking soon after.

“I don’t know what’s crazier in this story,” the host said. “The fact that this man lied about being in law enforcement, or the fact that he pulled out a fake badge during a debate.”

Noah then wondered how many people Walker arrested using his fake credentials, before quipping if the politician uses a “World’s Best Dad” cup to prove he’s a present dad.

During his spiel, Noah said the “saddest part” of the ordeal is that “there are people who are going to believe that Herschel Walker was in law enforcement because he pulled out this badge.”

He then compared his “honorary” badge to Taylor Swift’s honorary doctorate degree from NYU.

“You don’t see her [Swift] in the operating room like, ‘Well, killed another one!’”

Walker addressed the controversy to NBC News, saying the badge was “honorary,” but also “legit” and grants him certain authorities in the jurisdiction.

“This is from my hometown,” he said of the badge. “This is from Johnson County, from the sheriff from Johnson County, which is a legit badge.”

“Everyone can make fun, but this badge gives me the right, If anything happens in this county, I have the right to work with the police and get things done,” he added.

It was far from the only controversy Walker faced last week.

He admitted on Sunday that he gave his ex-girlfriend a check for $700 that she claims was used to pay for an abortion in 2009 — but insisted that the woman is lying about the payment.

Walker, who maintains that he is “a Christian” and “pro-life,” was slapped with claims from his ex that he both urged her to have and paid for the procedure.

“It’s a lie,” the Heisman Trophy winner told NBC News in an interview. You want me to answer something that’s a lie, and everyone’s trying to trick me and make me respond.”
