Travis Charest lives in Paris. Which meant he has really good reference points for this. In his newsletter last night, Mark Millar stated “Something really special is happening tomorrow. How can I put this into context for the normies among you? You know how it’s a cultural event when Tarantino has a movie out because he’s only done nine in the past thirty plus years? Well, tomorrow is even more special because TRAVIS CHAREST has an entire, full length comic book out tomorrow and it’s literally his first in TWENTY-FOUR YEARS.”
“Travis is in that rarified air of comic book artists who make other artists drop to their knees and squint at him like they’re looking into the face of the sun. When I told people I wanted to assemble him as one of the six greats we’re using in THE AMBASSADORS series running right now they said he was even less likely than Frank Quitely. As you now know, Frank’s issue came out last month and wowed everyone with not just 29 pages of Frank Quitely art, but a very rare colour job from the man too. Now we have Travis and for the first time since I was in my 20s we have an entire comic drawn by pretty much the greatest living comic artist. You can feel the buzz from the artistic community. This is special and it’s going to be yours in the morning.”
Night Club issues 1, 2 and 3 all sold out and went back to press. Nemesis 1, 2, 3 and 4 likewise, the first issue back for a THIRD printing. But The Ambassadors has been moving faster than either of them, our second printing of issue one on stands tomorrow and a new printing of issue two on the way too. But I suspect #3 is going to go nuts if retailer chat is anything to go by. Last issue sold out in four hours. I think this will be even faster so get to your store as early as possible if you weren’t savvy enough to place an order.”
