Travel fan reveals the first thing she does whenever she gets to a hotel

THERE’S nothing worse than having your vacation ruined by bringing home bedbugs.

That’s why a travel aficionado, whose name is Jenn Abbey, suggested checking the mattresses for any traces of these nasty bugs as soon as you get to your room.

In a social media video, Abbey explained that one of her vacations was ruined because she picked up bedbugs at a hotel.

“Yes, I had bedbugs once in my life and I have PTSD from it,” she claimed.

Now to avoid this from ever happening again, the first thing she does when she gets to her hotel room is to inspect the bed of bedbugs.

All you’ll need to do is pull the sheets off the mattress and check the corners for any black spots.

If it happens that you do find them in your hotel room, you should report the situation immediately to the staff and either get a room on another floor or go to a different hotel.

As you may know, bedbugs will bite you while you sleep and cause a line of red, itchy, and uncomfortable bumps.

Not only that but picking up the bugs at a hotel can easily bring the problem back to your own home.

According to a pest expert, getting rid of them can take weeks if not months.

Other than mattresses, pest control suggested checking the seams of box springs, the crack between the mattress and headboard, in between cushions and sofas, and in the seams of the carpet.

If you find bedbugs in your home, you should immediately call an exterminator.

In response to Abbey’s video, many people shared their own hacks to fighting bedbugs.

A hotel worker commented: “Always check behind headboards! That’s where they will appear first after being killed off if there is any left.”

Another said her friend, who works at a hotel, recommended to “check inside pillowcase corners and keep your luggage in the bathtub while you’re verifying.”

A third woman added: “I always carry a small spray bottle with rubbing alcohol and spray any suspicious dark spots. It kills them on contact.”

Another travel lover shared how to keep your clothes organized when packing for a trip, and all you need to do is use packing cubes in your suitcase to keep it tidy.
