The Switzerland captain has been tipped to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer, with Jose Mourinho a keen admirer.

According to the Mail, Roma want Xhake to join in time for their pre-season tour of Portugal next week.

Solskjaer delighted to welcome Sancho

1.30pm: Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also spoken after Sancho sealed his £73m move to Old Trafford.

He said: “Jadon epitomises the type of player I want to bring to the club, he is a forward player in the best traditions of Manchester United.

“He will form an integral part of my squad for years to come and we look forward to seeing him blossom.

“His goals and assists records speak for themselves and he will also bring tremendous pace, flair and creativity to the team.”

Man Utd confirm Sancho

1.15pm: Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.

The 21-year-old joins on a £73million deal, becoming the second most expensive English player in history.

Sancho has said: “The chance to join Manchester United is a dream come true and I just cannot wait to perform in the Premier League.

“This is a young and exciting squad and I know, together, we can develop into something special to bring the success that the fans deserve.

“I am looking forward to working with the manager and his coaching team to further develop my game.”

Chelsea eye Romero swoop

12.30am: Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Argentine free agent Sergio Romero this summer.

According to The Telegraph, Thomas Tuchel is eyeing Romero as a potential third-choice goalkeeping option behind Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The 34-year-old is currently available after his Manchester United contract expired earlier this year.

He has been linked with Everton to provide competition for Jordan Pickford, but a move to Stamford Bridge will be a more enticing proposition.

Tottenham advance Romero talks

11.15am: Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Atalanta centre-back Cristian Romero this summer.

According to Sky Sports, Spurs have made a bid worth around £45million for the 2020/21 Serie A Defender of the Year.

The 26-year-old is close to agreeing personal terms ahead of a move to north London and would sign a five-year contract with the option of a further year.

The 29-year-old has said: “It was already a big honour to play here for six years, the Club have showed me massive, massive respect and obviously I’m very happy to be here.

“It’s like home, especially with the fans, the players, the staff. There was no decision. It was easy.

“I’m so happy to be here and will be so glad to see the fans again soon.”

Man Utd’s Varane struggles

10am: Manchester United are reportedly struggling to reach an agreement with Real Madrid over the transfer of Raphael Varane.

According to the Mirror, the La Liga giants are demanding £50million but United are only willing to pay £40m.

Varane has entered the last year of his contract in the Spanish capital and desires a new challenge as he hits his prime.

Real are open to selling him to avoid a free transfer next year, but their valuation is yet to be met by the Red Devils.

Chelsea in Kimpembe hunt

9.15am: PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe is reportedly considering his future in the French capital.

Mauricio Pochettino has been heavily backed this month with Real Madrid skipper Sergio Ramos arriving on a free transfer.

That has left Kimpembe questioning his place in the PSG squad, according to L’Equipe.

Chelsea are keeping close tabs on the 25-year-old as they look for a long-term replacement for Thiago Silva.

Jack Grealish sacrifice

8.30am: Manchester City are reportedly preparing to let Bernardo Silva leave the club to facilitate a move for Jack Grealish.

The Blues have also made an offer of £160m for Harry Kane.

There is not expected to be a mass clear-out at the Etihad Stadium but Silva will be moved to pay part of Grealish’s transfer fee, according to the Sun.

Villa are expected to demand around £100m for their club captain.

And their transfer kitty will be boosted by around £11m when their former academy player Jadon Sancho joins Manchester United.

Man Utd and Arsenal battle

8am: Manchester United and Arsenal are the two leading candidates to sign Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves this summer, according to talkSPORT.

The Midlanders have slapped a £35million asking price on the 24-year-old – which is £19m more than they paid Porto in 2017.

United feel Neves could be the ideal replacement for Paul Pogba, should Paris Saint-Germain follow up on their interest.

Arsenal are looking for somebody to fill Granit Xhaka’s boots as he is set to join Roma.

Harry Kane bid

7.30am: Manchester City have made a blockbuster £160million offer for Harry Kane, according to the Sun.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was defiant in his stance that he did not want to sell his prized asset.

However, the Spurs chief has apparently done a U-turn and informed the England international of his decision over a phone call last week.

Kane is rumoured to become the highest-paid player in the Premier League on £400,000 a week.
