Trailer drops for new Adam Sandler movie starring former Denver Nuggets player
NBA journeyman and former Denver Nuggets reserve Juancho Hernangómez forward is now a movie star.
Hernangómez may have been traded more times this year (four) than the number of points per game he’s averaging (1.2), but that didn’t keep the 6-foot-9 Spaniard from taking on a major role in an upcoming Adam Sandler movie.
The movie, “Hustle,” which debuts June 10 on Netflix, revolves around an American basketball scout who is unjustly fired after discovering a once-in-a-lifetime player abroad. The scout decides to bring the player to America to prove that they both have what it takes to make it in the NBA.
Other big NBA names appearing in the teaser include Boban Marjanovic, Tobias Harris, Seth Curry, Matisse Thybulle, Tyrese Maxey and Doc Rivers.
The film is set in Philadelphia, despite Hernangómez never being a 76er in the real NBA.
Hernangómez was part of the Nuggets’ three-team trade to get Bryn Forbes earlier this year but then was dealt from the Spurs to the Utah Jazz a few weeks later. Hernangómez was a Nugget from 2016 to 2020, he played in 191 games, scoring 4.7 points per contest while grabbing 3.1 rebounds a night.
