Tourists ‘ruining’ idyllic seaside town as ‘disgusting’ behaviour hits new low

Families in an idyllic seaside town in Spain say tourists have overrun the area after a sickening video emerged on social media.

In the film, a tourist can be seen defacating on a passed-out partygoer who is sleeping on the promenade in El Arenal – known commonly as just Arenal – in Majorca.

The disgusting act is the latest in a long-list of events that have left the families living in the once-quaint seaside resort fuming at tourists.

The video was reportedly filmed just days ago, reports the Sun, but has inspired plenty of anger in the local community.

The Majorca Daily Bulletin said the town ‘cannot sink any lower’. It added that locals have now called on the police to take action against rowdy tourists in the area.

Sitting between Palma and Llucmajor, Arenal is on the opposite side of the bay to infamous party town Magaluf. But with the partying crowds spreading to Arenal, it has left residents at breaking point.

Alain Carbonell, vice-president of the Arenal Neighbourhood Association, told local paper Ultima Hora: “This is what is happening here. They are very wild people. They’re very drunk, drugged and full of brutal aggressiveness.

“They’re like the mafia as far as we’re concerned.”

Last month he said tourists, particularly those coming from Germany, turn the quaint town into a 48-hour party zone. Carbonell claimed that instead of paying for a hotel, they would simply stay out and sleep on the beach or a bench.

He told the Sun: “Now Palma Beach has been ‘Magalufised’. The Germans now do exactly what the Brits do.

“They throw themselves from balconies, they keep mixing their drinks all day, and use drugs. As a result, they fall asleep in people’s gardens, and they are being robbed. There a people vomiting all over the place while others use rubbish bins as toilets.”
