Tottenham vs Chelsea – Suhan Shah – Merchant Taylors’ School
This weekend we saw fiery North London Derby between Tottenham Hotspurs and Chelsea. This highly anticipated match could have seen an end to Chelsea’ 11 match winless streak but instead saw Tottenham climb up to 4th place, which if maintained can guarantee Tottenham Champions League football next season. The first half of the match was mostly a solid performance from both sides till an absolute screamer from Oliver Skipp saw Tottenham ahead 1-0 just before half-time and a confrontation between Hakim Ziyech and Emerson Royal saw Hakim Ziyech getting sent off but soon brought back on to the pitch but instead on a yellow card instead. As the 2nd half started, the Chelsea players were demotivated but were persistent to get a comeback as Raheem Sterling put some great shots in but were all saved by a stellar performance by Tottenham’s goalkeeper Fraser Forster. Unfortunately, Chelsea’s hopes of a comeback were put down permanently as Harry Kane secured the win by scoring from a brilliant corner kick. This performance from Chelsea could have been Graham Potter’s final straw as Chelsea now sit midtable and are currently in no position to qualify for European Football next season. Roshni Shah, an avid Chelsea fan said, “Today’s match was really disappointing, I really hope to see a better performance in the upcoming matches.” Hopefully Chelsea can end their winless streak against Leeds this coming Saturday.
