Tottenham have 2022 transfer plan already as Fabio Paratici ‘readies £6.8m contract offer’

Tottenham transfer chief Fabio Paratici is clearly not content to rest on his laurels after a busy debut summer in the hotseat. Reports indicate that the north London side are preparing a bumper contract offer for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie to lure the player to England’s capital next year, although top sides around Europe are sure to be preparing offers of their own.

The Ivory Coast international’s deal at the San Siro expires next summer, meaning he will be available to negotiate a pre-contract agreement in January before a free summer transfer.

As one of Milan’s top midfielders, they will have to somehow tempt him to renew his deal in just a matter of weeks before the window reopens.

Serie A success would certainly be one way of swinging the pendulum back towards them, with Inter Milan weakened after last season’s domestic triumph.

The Rossoneri went through some solid spells last season and have made a great start this time around, which is just as well, because Kessie’s future in Italy could depend on it.

As he continues to mature, the former Atalanta youngster has developed into a prolific goalscoring midfielder.

Last campaign, he bagged a hugely impressive 13 Serie A goals, more than Juventus frontman Alvaro Morata.

Such a valuable blend of youth and experience in one player does not come around often, let alone for free.

It would be a real statement of intent by Spurs, who seem to already be making plans for the next transfer window after a mightily busy summer.

Including loans, Nuno and Paratici registered five major signings, as well as managing to keep hold of Harry Kane who had been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City.

Spurs could use their own red-hot start to the season to tempt Kessie towards the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as the only Premier League side to emerge from the first three games with a perfect record.

In light of three successive 1-0 victories, however, such narrow margins are not a sustainable way to put points on the board over the course of a full season, although their clean sheets are certainly a positive to take.

In their early days at the helm, Nuno and Paratici are clearly taking the bull by the horns as they attempt to drag Spurs into a new era. Luring in a player like Kessie would undoubtedly be a big step towards that objective.
