While the theme park only opened its doors for the year in April, it’s already announced its exciting summer programme.

At Parc Asterix the summer season gets underway from July 14 and lasts until September 2.

This year the park has announced some brand-new additions to its summer line up including a pirate float that will feature as part of the Gaulish Parade.

The pirate float will have three new characters including Captain Redbeard, Baba the lookout, and Three-Legs.

There will also be a new show featuring the same characters called Pirates in Choppy Waters, which will take place on the banks of the lake at the theme park.

Other shows will also be returning like A Ruckus in the Farmyard, the fireworks show The Sky is Falling on Our Heads as well as the Gaulish Banquet.

But one of the theme park’s most impressive new additions for the year is the Toutatis rollercoaster.

Located in a brand-new area inside the theme park’s Gaul zone, the Toutatis is the highest and fastest rollercoaster in France.

On the ride, parkgoers will be taken on seven forward and backward accelerations with the ride reaching a maximum speed of 110km per hour.

The area covers three hectares of land and has other new attractions too including Chez Gyrofélix, a ride with 4 gondolas spinning in the air, and the new Sanglier d’or playground for younger guests.

The theme park also has several water-based rides and attractions including Le Grand Splatch and the Menhir Express for those guests who are looking to cool off in the summer months.

During its summer season, Parc Asterix will be open until 10pm so visitors can make the most of the Gaulish summer.

Entry tickets into the park cost €51 for a full-paying adult.

A stay at Parc Asterix at la Cité Suspendue is available from £269 per room, including breakfast and tickets to the park for a family of four

Sun Online Travel compared that to a one-night stay at Disneyland Paris, where a room for a parent and two kids this spring, including two days’ park started from £678.
