Tony Blackburn has been discharged from hospital after three weeks
Tony Blackburn, 80, has shared the news that he has been discharged from hospital after spending three weeks there while recovering from an illness.
The BBC Radio 2 star took to Twitter this morning to update his 106,800 followers on his health.
“After three weeks in hospital I have just been discharged and am now at home to have some more treatment by having a daily injection for a few days from a hospital near me,” he wrote.
“Thanks to everyone at the Wellington Hospital in London doctors and nurses, for looking after me.
The former I’m A Celeb star then went on to share his future plans for his job at the BBC.
“Hello folks. Just to let you all know, I’ve had a little recurrence of the chest infection I had a few weeks ago,” the former BBC Radio 1 DJ tweeted.
“My Dr has told me off for not taking some time to recover properly so I am having a break from the radio this weekend.
“And, sadly, I have had to postpone the Sounds of the 60s shows at Swindon and Redhill next week too.
“New dates are already in the diary though and I really do hope to be back with you soon,” he added presciently.
Tony’s exciting health announcement comes just one day after the star lamented missing the Audio and Radio Industry Awards last night as he was “still recovering”.
Posting a promotional image from the ARIAs, he wrote: “This evening I received The Radio Pioneer Award at #UKARIAS from @radioacademy.
“But sadly I was not able to be there as I am still recovering,” he added in reference to his recent health troubles.
“Thanks so much for this amazing honour from the industry I love being a part of. I hope you all had a lovely evening.”
