Tom Parker’s wife Kelsey wipes tears away over clip of documentary at NTAs
The Wanted star Tom Parker’s wife Kelsey broke down in tears when the National Television Awards 2022 played a clip from Inside My Head.
The special was up for the Authored Documentary gong, alongside Julia Bradbury for Breast Cancer and Me; Katie Price for What Harvey Did Next; Paddy and Christine McGuinness for Our Family and Autism; and Kate Garraway for Caring for Derek.
Inside My Head followed the Parker family as they learned to live with the popstar’s brain tumour and arranged a charity benefit concert before his death in March aged 33.
At the ceremony, which was hosted by comedian Joel Dommett, a short clip aired of the emotional doc, showing Parker perform for one of the final times with The Wanted.
In it, as he approaches the stage to a cheering audience, Parker said: ‘I hope my kids look back in this in 20 years’ time and be like, “Wow, dad got to do amazing things.”‘
Kelsey was seen wiping away tears with a tissue when the emotional clip came to an end.
The award went to Kate Garraway for her doc about her husband’s long-term battle with Covid-19 and she sweetly hugged Kelsey before accepting the gong.
Earlier in October, it was announced Kelsey would front a new ITV documentary about coping with grief.
Kelsey and Parker’s two children, Aurelia, three, and Bodhi, two, will also feature in the six episode series for ITVBe which will follow the family as they learn to navigate through life without him.
She will also speak to others going through the grieving process and have shared a similar experience, including some famous faces, as well as test out method of coming to terms with loss including yoga.
Kelsey recently marked six months to the day since Parker’s death but said ‘you’re still here in everything we do’.
She added: ‘Holding onto the knowledge that to be loved is everything and we loved hard.
‘I would say I do to you a million times over. I love you Tom.’
The National Television Awards are available to stream on ITV Hub.
