Tom Fletcher breaks silence after being ‘really ill’ with eye problem
In a new update, Tom confirmed he is on the mend and back working.
He told his two million Instagram followers: “Happy New Year! I think this is the first time that I have been on this year.
“I was a bit ill over Christmas…I was really ill over Christmas – I had this thing with my eye.
“Anyway, it is a long story, but I just wanted to say sorry I’ve not been on here much, I’ve been snowed under with work.”

According to the NHS, uveitis is the inflammation of the middle layer of the eye and can cause pain and changes to vision.
Most cases require steroid treatment but sometimes the condition can be serious and lead to further eye problems such as glaucoma and cataracts.
Last month, Tom confirmed he was receiving steroid medication and had been wearing sunglasses to protect his eyes from light.
Tom has released several books over the years and become a bestselling author.
He released his first children’s book, The Dinosaur that Pooped Christmas, in 2012 after writing it with bandmate Dougie.
His first solo novel, The Christmasaurus, came out in 2016 and his second, The Christmasaurus and the Winter Witch, was released in 2019.
Space Band is available to buy now.
