The 59-year-old actor popped up ahead of the game against the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs to share footage of the upcoming blockbuster, not that we needed any other reasons to be hyped.
Speaking in the trailer, he could be heard stating: ‘Football, America’s game. A sport that rewards hard work, sacrifice, dedication and skill.
‘A sport that challenges you to always get better, to never get second place.
‘Because America doesn’t root for the timid or the scared, or those who back away from a challenge
‘We root for the bold, the brave, the risk takers who are pushed to the very limits to succeed.
‘Because after all, life is more fun when it comes with a little bit of action.’
Well, we don’t know about you but we are ready for Maverick’s return.
The long-awaited sequel to the 1986 Top Gun, is set for release on May 27 from Paramount Studios.
The official synopsis reads: ‘After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him.
‘When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialised mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose”.
‘Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.’
