Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg napping together has people in stitches

It can be a tiring job being Tom Cruise – and Simon Pegg has shared a picture of him napping to prove it.

The Mission: Impossible duo have become firm pals thanks to their time working together on the action franchise, and ahead of the newest installment, Pegg took fans on a trip down memory lane.

In the snap – taken on a plane while travelling from Seoul, South Korea to Tokyo, Japan back in 2018 – Pegg and Cruise are seen side-by-side catching up on some sleep amid the hectic schedule of their press tour.

Cruise, in a black T-shirt, has his arms crossed on his lap as he leans against the side of the plane, out like a light.

Pegg is sitting next to him, sleeping with his mouth open with airpods in his ears.

Fans were quick to comment on the pic with their own sarcastic remarks to what’s going on, dubbing thrillseeking actor Cruise “Tom Snooze” while Pegg was declared “Shaun Of The Bed”.

Others were astounded to see Cruise having some downtime, as he’s so known for his action-packed stunts, busy schedule and ever-upbeat demeanour.

“This is probably before Tom woke up and flew the plane the rest of the way,” wrote fan @jimmydushku.

“Why do I find it funny that Tom Cruise wears a seatbelt? If something went wrong, he’d simply burst out a window, climb out on to the wing and adjust the flaps by hand,” added @lanceulenoff.

While a number of others simply astoundingly wrote: “He sleeps?!”

The photo comes hot on the heels of the duo returning to our screens with Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning part one, which is due for release on July 14.

The film will see Cruise return as Ethan Hunt, an IMF agent on a new seemingly impossible adventure.

Pegg, who joined the franchise as Benji Dunn in the third movie, will be back to assist him in his efforts.

Hayley Atwell, Rebecca Ferguson and Vanessa Kirby are among their co-stars.

Part two, which is believed to be the final in the franchise, is slated for release on June 24, 2024.
