Tim Tebow’s NFL comeback came to an end Tuesday morning. The Jaguars released him among their first five cuts to bring their roster down to 85.
Despite his release, Tebow is nothing but grateful for the opportunity that Jacksonville provided him.
Tebow thanked the Jaguars on Twitter for “the chance to have pursued a dream.” Here’s a look at his full comments.

Before signing with the Jaguars during the 2021 offseason, Tebow hadn’t played in the NFL since 2015, when he played quarterback for the Eagles during the preseason. After a five-year minor league career with MLB’s Mets, he returned to the NFL in hopes of playing the tight end position.

Urban Meyer, who coached Tebow during their college days at Florida, elected to give the 34-year-old a chance. However, the Jaguars’ new coach apparently couldn’t justify keeping him after a weak preseason debut that saw him struggle as a blocker and fail to record a catch in 16 offensive snaps.
Tebow’s release will bring his NFL playing career to an end. The Broncos’ first-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft played 35 regular season games from 2010 to 2012 and logged an 8-6 record as a starting quarterback. He racked up 2,422 passing yards, 17 pass TDs and nine interceptions but completed just 47.9 percent of his passes. He also ran for 989 yards and 12 TDs during his career.
He never recorded a catch.
