Tim Bachman, one of the founding members of the Canadian rock band Bachman-Turner Overdrive, has died at the age of 71.

The news was announced by his son Paxton ‘Ryder’ Bachman, who confirmed that his father had died on Saturday April 29 alongside a black-and-white photo of them together during his childhood.

In a Facebook post, Ryder wrote: ‘My Dad passed this afternoon. Thank You Everyone for the kind words.

‘Grateful I got to spend some time with him at the end. Grab yer loved ones and hug em close, ya never know how long you have.’

In another post shared on social media, Ryder detailed some of the final moments that he shared with his late father.

‘I sat with Dad yesterday afternoon and reminisced about some of the good times we had,’ he said.

‘He was pretty out of it most of the time, but at one point looked up at me with really, big wide eyes and said, “I love you Paxton, keep sharing the music…” and then passed back out.’

Ryder said that it’s ‘really hard watching your parent lay in bed helpless and sick and there’s nothing you can do to help them’.

‘Breaking my heart. Thankful for the time we got to spend together,’ he shared.

Born on August 1 1951, Bachman was one of the founding members of Bachman-Turner Overdrive, alongside his brothers Randy Bachman and Robbie Bachman, and bassist Fred Turner. Robbie died earlier this year at the age of 69.

He appeared in the two albums released by the band in 1973, before being replaced by Blair Thornton, who took over on lead guitar.

Bachman reunited with the band for a 1984, which included opening for Van Halen on the rock band’s world tour.

According to LoudWire, the late musician was working as a realtor following his years playing with Bachman-Turner Overdrive.
