We’re used to some pretty outlandish beauty terms coming our way, with new buzzwords popping up all the time. But have you heard of Dragon’s Blood?

Even we were a little dubious hearing about Rodial’s multitasking hyaluronic ‘drink’.

But dragon’s blood as an ingredient isn’t quite as far-fetched as it sounds – no medieval antics to see here. The ingredient is a bright red resin derived from different species of plants.

Why is dragon’s blood so good for our skin? Studies have shown a high antioxidant potential in the ingredient, and we have to say, when we tried this spray it honestly was like a big glass of water for our face.

The brand’s Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Drink (£38) is quite the multi-tasker and can be used as a hydrating makeup primer, setting spray and serum for an extra moisture boost.

We used it as all three: a light spray before makeup, one afterwards, and to top up the moisture levels in our skin while working under dehydrating office air conditioning for nine hours a day (IYKYK).

As well as harnessing the plant power of dragon’s blood, the hyaluronic spray also contains niacinamide to reduce the appearance of uneven skin tone, and hydroveg, which will deeply nourish the skin and boost hydration for a perfect base for makeup.

While we didn’t notice a drastic change in skin tone, they were right on the money with the hydration – with an instant feeling of refreshment and plump and juicy skin coming after a few pumps, eliminating that angry and tight feeling your face gets when it’s crying out for some love.

It’s no secret that Rodial is a favourite with celebrities with everyone from JLo to Kim Kardashian investing in their products. Margot Robbie has also previously been reported to wear the brand as part of her skincare prep for the red carpet. Now that’s what we call a recommendation.

Putting us in great company, it’s claimed both Lady Gaga and Dita Von Teese use the Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Drink, too.

This is a relatively new product from Rodial, but so far the reviews have been very positive, with shoppers ‘delighted’ with the results.

‘Perfect for a spray over makeup. I find it really hydrates and makes my skin look soft and glowy. Delighted with the effect,’ wrote one reviewer online.

While another said: ‘I can’t live without. Really good for my skin.’

We’re probably not feeling as dramatic as that, but it’s clear that a couple of sprays of this on parched skin can be the difference between feeling washed out or simply glowing through tea time.
